Minute of burgh court of Aberbrothock, noting the demission of office of bailie by James Carnegie and Master John Grainger, and the appointment in their place of John Wallace and Patrick Lyell
Borough Court of Aberbrothock, Quinto die, mons Oktober, anno 1635
The which day the said bailies demissing their offices …. John Wallace is chosen Bailie of this Burgh for the year starting by John Hamilton Chamberlain my Lords Commissioner for that office. Likewise Patrick Lyell got a plurality of votes of the neighbors of this Burgh present at the Tolbooth therefore is also elected Bailie of this Burgh for the year incoming. The said John Wallace and Patrick Lyell having accepted upon them those said offices of Bailwick they gave their oaths in faith.
